essential cuisine
set for strong growth
The chilled retail and food market is one of the fastest growing segments across Australia and New Zealand, which is why Cerebos Gregg’s is so enthusiastic about its latest purchase.
The acquisition of Essential Cuisine Limited, a New Zealand based business, set up by David and Lorraine Curtis, will expand the presence of Cerebos Gregg’s in this attractive market as well as adding a strong differentiated premium brand to the food portfolio.
Essential Cuisine’s primary ranges are chilled stock, presto and beef just. The stock is salt and gluten free with no artificial flavors, preservatives or msg. Their range of pesto can claim the only pesto to win two stars at the International Taste Quality Awards in Belgium in 2007, judged by 12 Michelin chefs, and their beef stock won a Superior Taste Award in 2008.
In summing up, Stuart Macintosh says, “This is a small step, but potentially a giant leap into a whole new category. To expand into an area that is not dried grocery presents great opportunity for us. This is a premium brand that’s head and shoulders above the rest from a quality viewpoint- I’ve tried it and it is beyond doubt, gourmet.’
